The United Way of Huntington County desires for each community member to have the immediate support needed to ensure physical and/or emotional safety in the event of an unstable situation or imminent danger.
The United Way of Huntington County continues to support basic needs programs that provide immediate relief to Huntington County residents.
Blessings in a Backpack provides food on the weekend for Huntington County elementary students who might otherwise go hungry. Students who qualify financially for the free or reduced lunch program receive food during the week at school but are at risk of going hungry each weekend. Our program steps in to bridge this gap providing food for these students for the weekend.
Stillwater Hospice offers compassionate, patient-focused care for individuals with life-limiting illnesses in northeast Indiana. Our services include hospice care, palliative care, grief support, and integrative therapies such as music and massage therapy. We provide care in homes, assisted living facilities, and our dedicated Hospice Home, located just minutes from Huntington County.
YWCA Northeast Indiana-Prevention and Services for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in Huntington County
YWCA Northeast Indiana actively empowers individuals and communities through advocacy, education, and support services, ensuring dignity for all. We help adults and children experiencing domestic violence to understand the dynamics of domestic violence so that they are empowered to live a life free from abuse. We work with adult and child survivors of sexual violence to process trauma so that survivors are empowered to heal from their experiences. We also provide prevention education and training to adults and students about dating violence, domestic violence, sexual violence, and addiction and recovery.
YWCA Advocates travel throughout Huntington County to meet 1:1 with survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault. YWCA Educators provide training to law enforcement, social services organizations, and students. Anyone affected by domestic violence or sexual assault can request a meeting with an Advocate by calling the 24/7 hotline (800.441.4073) or emailing advocatecoords@ywcanein.org. Anyone can request a training with YWCA Educators by emailing educationteam@ywcanein.org. All education and advocacy services are free to anyone in Huntington County.
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana–Client Advocate Program for Huntington County
This program provides support services to people in Huntington county who are affected by a cancer diagnosis. Those services improve access to health care, increase financial stability, and provide mental health and wellness support. Those services include: financial assistance, transportation assistance, durable medical equipment, healthcare supplies, head coverings, nutrition counseling, mental health counseling, support groups, programs for children with cancer, oncology massage, exercise therapy, and advocacy.
McKenzie’s Hope-Domestic Violence Services
McKenzie’s Hope offers advocacy services for adult survivors of Domestic Violence and/or Sexual Assault. Our advocate works with clients to walk alongside them on their journey toward healing. Survivors can be referred from community organizations or call our advocate themselves.
McKenzie’s Hope-Child Advocacy Center
The Huntington County Child Advocacy Center Inc. DBA McKenzie’s Hope provides services to children ages 2 to 17 who are suspected victims of child abuse as well as their non-offending parent/guardian. When children and their families arrive at McKenzie’s Hope we facilitate video-recorded forensic interviews by trained child interviewers in a child-friendly environment.

Alive & Well provides interactive lessons to 6th and 8th grade students at Crestview and Riverview. These programs educate, empower and inspire students to make positive choices involving their physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health.
New Life Ministries – Women’s Life House
New Life Ministries provides safe shelter and structured support for adult women through our four-phase, faith-based transitional housing program, the Women’s Life House. Whether obtaining employment, saving money, attending program-required classes, and much more, this program is designed to meet women at their crossroads and educate and equip them with the skills required to get back on track to living a successful life.

New Life Ministries provides safe shelter to Huntington County children and teens at the Children’s Life House. Operated by licensed foster parents, the Children’s Life House is a foster and respite care home that accepts placements from the Huntington County.
Huntington County Youth Services Bureau-Teen Court
As an alternative to traditional juvenile sanctions, first time offenders are taught to take greater responsibility for their actions. Successful completion of Teen Court sanctions result in a cleared record, provided there are no new offences.
Huntington County Youth Services Bureau-Skills for Life
Skills for Life is an 8 week series that meets for 2 hours per week and is open to any youth ages 13-18. The program provides teens with information and support as they learn life’s necessary skills such as: dealing with conflict, job readiness, tolerance, self-esteem, self-image, social and challenges faced from addiction.
Huntington County Youth Services Bureau-Safe Place
Safe Place supports youth and families 24/7/365 with immediate assistance with challenges such as bullying, homelessness, feelings of hopelessness, suicidal thoughts and so many more things. Trained team members answer the phone and provide guidance and make referrals to resources that can further assist.
